Durham in 100 Years

The year is 2114 and Alex is just now waking up from a 100 year coma. Back in 2014 he was in a bad car accident that left him in a coma. In 2022 scientist came out with a medical breakthrough that preserves the bodies and minds if patients that are in comas. Since Alex was a young man, 23 at the time, he was a great candidate. He was placed in a “Coma Pod”. The coma pods keep everything at the same age that they were placed in. Only thing is that out of 893 case studies, Alex was the only one to survive. Scientist found this very odd because all pods were made the same on an assembly line. So Alex finally awakes, signals are sent from the pod to the nurses station. Nurses, Doctors, Hospital officials, and police swarm into the room to oversee his departure of the pod. When he is taken out, he is confused and dazed. After explaining his situation he quickly breaks down, now realizing that anything and everyone from his past is gone. Every friend, foe, or family member. All gone. After being brought up to date on new laws, disasters, and major events he is given a physical and released to the public. He is given a key card with his name and picture on it. He asks what its for, the receptionist answers “Well sir that’s your  Life Card.” “ Well what does it do?” He curiously asks. “Its everything. It is what ou know as a debit card, social security card, License, house key, car key, basically anything that you need is accessible through that card.” Alex stood there in amazement. On his way to his car he spotted to what looked to be a robot. “A robot?!” Alex thought to hisself. He went to the parking spot he was assigned, but there was no car. There was what looked to be a hovercraft. “What the hell..?” Alex hopped in and turned it on. He had only seen these in movies or video games as a kid. But then again that was 100 years ago. On his way to his new house he passed probably over 100 robots on the street, and thousands of hovercraft, jets, and even electric jetpacks. He went downtown first to check on the “American Tobacco District” but all that was left was a rundown water tower with the faded words “Lucky Strike” on it. “Wow.. Durham’s original water tower. The thing that started this whole city..well metropolis” he said to himself. When he arrived home he just sat on his bed, thought about his family, friends and wife. His child which was gone too. Sobbing he stared out the window. “What to do now?” He asks himself.
